Victoria Tetra Society, 10th Meeting of the Year, Monday, September 29, 2003

6:45 p.m. in the conference room, 4181 Glanford Ave, Canada Post Sorting Depot

 

In Attendance: Marnie Essery, Tony Nordstrom (Chair), Dave Marryatt, Don Hurd, and Henk Oudt.

Regrets: Cynthia Pearce, Nina Duffus, Nicole Zalinger, Paul Sidlick, Candina Collard and Doug Pattison.

 

Treasurer’s Report

It was accepted as presented. Marnie handed in a cheque for $200.00 from the Red Cross which covers the costs of making 20 book holders. Tony issued Dave and Bert a cheque for $100.00 each to cover their expenses. Don handed in Project #3088’s  membership fee of $10.00.

 

Old Business

  1. Dave, Don and Marnie attended the Vancouver Island Health Authority’s thank you tea on Wednesday, Sept 17. Marnie gave a speech and handed out 39 Tetra info packages to rehab therapists. Dave showed many people pictures of various Tetra projects.
  2. Marnie has updated our Community Service Directory listing.
  3. Despite numerous phone attempts, Marnie is getting the “run around” trying to find out who to talk to about having Tetra listed in the Victoria phone book.
  4. Marnie has emailed/mailed out the Tetra Society contact sheet.

 

Old Projects

  1. Project # 3079-he’s legally blind and needs to put videos away. Dave and Don are working on this.
  2. Project # 2050-He wants to know how much it will cost. Tony will try and contact him again.
  3. Project # 2075-a helmet to wear for participant in Disabled Sailing program. She went to Kamloops and haven’t heard from since.
  4. Project # 3078-Dave and Don completed. A bill for $165.05 was submitted to  Tony.
  5. Project #3084-Dave and Don bought a cup holder and went over but there was no one home, project on hold.
  1. Project # 3081-toilet seat on hold, Dave and Don offered many suggestions of possible solutions but none were acceptable, project on hold.
  2. Project # 3085-Dave completed a pair of tongs that needed to be straightened a bit, no charge.
  3. Project # 3086-Dave will call and follow up about a car attachment that would help her keep her autistic son from reaching over while she was driving.
  4. Proejct #2070-Dave and Don did more work on the leg exerciser and lowered wheelchair wheels.
  5. Project # 2058-Dave and Don will pick up wheelchair and put brakes on it.

New Business

  1. Pat Tweedie has said that she will send Marnie a thank you letter to have Tony sign and then forward to Anne Kilbertus and Debbie Mills for their long time support of the Victoria Tetra Society.
  2. On Thursday, October 9, from 1-7 at UVic’s Student Union Building there will be a UVic Assistive Technology Team Open House.
  3. Coming soon, the Intermunicipal Advisory Committee on Disability Issues is co-sponsoring a Seniors event where they can take their medical equipment and talk to some experts. As soon as details are confirmed Marnie will let us know. Tetra will have a table at this event.

                            

New Projects

1. Project # 3088-Dave and Don made a device so that she could hold her baby. The project is complete and a $33.88 bill was handed in to Tony.  

2. Project # 3089-Dave and Don are working on a cup holder for her.

3. Project # 3090-he had a coin slot problem, Dave and Don talked to O.T. but he wasn’t home.
