Victoria Tetra Society, 4th Meeting of the Year

Wednesday, May 5 at 7:00 p.m.

In Attendance: Nina Duffus, Marnie Essery, Don Hurd (Chair), Dave Marryatt and John Neilson.

No Corrections to the Minutes. 

Treasurer away-no report

 

Old Business

  1. Don will help Marnie set up and take down Tetra display at Provincial Spinal Cord Injury Conference at UVic on Sat May 8. Marnie will sit at the display from 11ish (as soon as HandyDart gets there) until 3.
  2. Dave was profiled on Shaw Daily’s program, not sure when it will be on.
  3. There are no leads on who to contact with Destination Imagination to let them know about Tetra.
  4. Marnie has sent in the info that the Registrar of Companies needed.
  5. Marnie will follow up on the registration process with Volunteer Victoria.
  6. Don emailed Elizabeth Dolan re Tetra Calgary’s request for info re bike project.

 

New Business

 

  1. Tetra reps and their families are invited to attend a networking picnic on Thursday, June 17 at 6:15 p.m. at Goldstream Provincial Park. Please bring your own dinner and non-alcoholic drink and something to sit on. There will be a campfire. The Intermunicipal Advisory Committee on Disability Issues is sponsoring this event. For more information please call Marnie at 474-5939.
  2. Marnie, Don and Dave will be giving a presentation on Tetra to 60-100 Seniors at the Saanich Silver Threads on Wed June 16 from 6:30-7. A big thank you to Saanich Silver Threads who have also invited Marnie, Don and Dave to dinner from 5:30-6:30.
  3. Dave and Margo attended the Glenshiel Social.

 

 

Old Projects

  1. Project# 2071-Nina and Dave will call Leah Kinnarthy and try to identify which project they want Tetra to work on because there was a number of possibilities discussed.
  2. Disabled Sailing Assoc project-lives in Chemainus-John, who sails, will call Chris and find out what he needs and start the Tetra membership process and then when work needs to be done, Don will help.
  3. Project # 4102-prior Tetra client-his house is under major renovations and a Tetra project will have to be postponed for now.
  4. Project # 4103-Dave and Don completed the project and she may call for another Tetra project in the future.
  5. The Glenshiel-Project # 3092- Dave and Don completed the step to get into the van is completed.
  6. Project # 3094-tried eggshell foam but didn’t like it. She decided to buy a new mattress, already sharpened utensils, Don completed project.
  7. Project # 2058-reported that the brakes are working great.
  8. Project # 3086-Dave started to work on project.

 

New Projects

  1. Marnie got a call from a prior Tetra client who is a paraplegic and wants to be able to use the pedals (head controlled) so she can play piano. Rob, an old Tetra member, had been working on this but the project was never completed. Apparently there was a similar project done by Tetra Vancouver. Marnie will check into this and John will give her a follow up call.
