Victoria Tetra Society Meeting

Tuesday, June 15th, 2004

St. Michael’s University School, 820 Victoria Avenue

 

Present: Dave Marryatt (Chair), Nina Duffus, Marnie Essery, Tony Nordstrom and John Neilson.

Regrets: Don Hurd (in Toronto), Candina Collard and Doug Pattison.

 

No Corrections to the Minutes

 

Treasurer’s Report –it was accepted as presented.

Marnie submitted a cheque for $16.35 for Project #3091 and a cheque for $ 21.20 for Project # 3098 and Tony gave Dave a cheque for $49.59 to cover his expenses for Project # 4103.

 

Old Business

  1. Dave, Marnie and Tony will attend the Saanich Silver Threads dinner and give a short talk on Tetra tomorrow night.
  2. Just a reminder that all Tetra reps are invited to the Intermunicipal Advisory Committee on Disability Issues Community Picnic on Thursday June 17 at 6:15 at Goldstream Park.
  3. Dave presented Nina Duffus her Tetra pin in recognition that she has now completed her risk management program.
  4. Marnie made 20 contacts when she had a display at the Living with a Spinal Chord Injury conference held at UVic in May.

 

Old Projects

  1. Project #2050-Tony will call him again. He has not heard from him. Marnie suggested that if timing is a problem he could pick up bike from another Tetra member’s home.
  2. Project #4105-no R.F.A form-Don and Dave visited her. Nina gave Dave a drafting board that might be able to be used in this project.
  3. Project #2071-fishing rod holder- Nina has called and called and no one has returned her call.
  4. Project # 4104-prior Tetra client-Marnie gave John info received from Vancouver. Don and John will work on this project. She is leaving in July so time is a factor.
  5. Project # 3086-work is in progress by Dave and Margo. The main rail is installed.
  6. Project # 4106-John has not heard from him but Marnie mentioned he was on Shaw Daily’s program fundraising so that new 2 boats could be bought for the Cowichan Disabled Sailing Association. Don will work with John on this project.

 

 

 

 

 

 

New Business

 

  1. The next Tetra meeting will take place at Nina’s house, 9 Price Road on Tuesday, July 13 at 6:00 p.m. (she has offered to feed us chicken/salmon and salads for dinner). Please call her at 708-0065 or email her at nerg@shaw.ca for directions.
  2. Marnie reminded Tony that at the July meeting a $250 cheque to the Tetra Society of North America will need to be written to cover the yearly liability insurance for Tetra volunteers.
  3. Marnie mentioned possibly having an informal get together sometime this Fall where we invite Tetra reps from Saltspring and Nanaimo etc. It was suggested that Saturday/early Sunday might be better to allow for people to travel and catch a ferry. People commented a brunch or possibly pizza might be some options.
  4. Bob Brandt, A Tetra client, was featured in the Times-Colonist and Chris Loscerbo was featured in the Goldstream Gazette.
  5. It was discussed that we would like to have some reflective stickers foil/plastic that are weatherproof and fairly small for putting on made Tetra projects. Marnie will get some quotes on prices.
  6. A nurse from the M.S. Society called Dave.

 

New Projects

1. Project # 4107-Duncan-She has a Ranger X wheelchair and wants to put it into the back of her 89 Nissan long box pickup truck. She has been using planks.
